Are there any dance classes at the Palace this year? 

Currently we don’t host regular dance classes at The Palace, but we do offer private lessons which you can book through here! 

 

How do I join the Royal Family? 

The Royal Family holds yearly auditions at the Palace Dance Studio, usually at the start of the year. We also hold International Auditions biennially.  

 

Do I have to be in New Zealand to join the Royal Family? 

Yes! As our dancers train in our studio, in person 5 days a week. 

 

What age do you have to be to join the Royal Family? 

For New Zealand Auditions, we open auditions for ages 13-17 for Duchesses and 18+ for Royal Family. 

For International Auditions, our auditions are 18+ as if you are chosen, you’ll have to move to New Zealand and train with the Royal Family. 

 

What crews are in the Royal Family? 

Currently, The Royal Family, Duchesses and ReQuest are the only active crews right now. We previously had Sorority, Bubblegum, Kingsmen, Misfits and Royal Family Varsity. 

 

Can I come to the studio? 

The studio is currently not open to the public. Email royal@thepalacedancestudio.co.nz if you’d like to visit and we will see if there is anything we can do for you! 

 

SHOWS/TOURS 

Are the Royal Family shows family-friendly? 

We try to keep it family friendly unless specified otherwise. All our music that we use has no explicit content as we censor words as we see fit. We do recommend a Parental Guardian be present when watching a show! 

 

Will there be merchandise available at your shows/workshops?  
Merch will be available at all RF shows and workshops unless specified otherwise. The merch is limited stock so be fast if you want to get specific items! 

 

WORKSHOPS/ROYAL CRUSADE 

Can I get videos from workshops? 

Unfortunately, we don’t give out videos from workshops as we don’t have a platform for video sharing.

What level are the intensives and workshops taught at? 

We try and keep our intensives and workshops at an Intermediate to Advanced Level so everyone can enjoy and learn. We recommend everybody to try it out regardless of skill level as it is a good experience and chance to learn! 

 

What age do I have to be to attend your workshops? 

We welcome all ages to come to our workshops, there is no age restriction for our workshops unless specified otherwise. 

 

Will it be the same choreography if I attend two workshops in 1 day?  

We try to keep all our choreographies different for our workshops, especially if they are within the same day.

ROYAL GUARD 

What is “Royal Guard”? 

Royal Guard is a training program that we launched in 2024. We take 10 upcoming young talents from all around the world and train them under the RF style. 

 

How can I apply for Royal Guard? 

We open applications for Royal Guard at the end of the year. The chosen lot are announced and notified by the following year.
